Dropout Prevention

WTSD Dropout Prevention Plan 2020 - 2021

The West Tallahatchie School District has submitted a local Dropout Prevention Plan to provide goals, activities and services necessary to meet the three overarching goals of the state dropout prevention plan: 1. exceeding the state graduation rate to 85% by 2019-2022; 2. reducing the state dropout rate b 50% by 2019-2022 and 3. reducing the truancy rate by 50% by 2019-2022.

This plan has been created with the purpose of safely reopening West Tallahatchie School District. The purpose of this plan is to aid in navigating the reestablishment of our school where employees, students, and families can continue with the educational process and eliminate exposure to COVID-19. The guidelines referenced in this plan are based on guidance from the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and West Tallahatchie School District (WTSD). This plan will be periodically updated based on changes and directives given by MDE, CDC, and WTSD.

Student Guide to Google Classroom

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Go to
  3. First Login: create an account using your district email. Scroll down and choose student.
  4. Join a Class: Click the + on the top right of the page to join a class. Enter the class code you were given and click join.
  5. You will be given a different class code for each of your classes.
  6. After you have joined a class, a page will open. This is the Stream. From here you will be able to see any post, resource, or assignment your teacher has provided.
  7. To view or complete an assignment, click on the Classwork tab and a page will open. Then click on View Assignment.
  8. Once your assignment has been completed, you must click on the Turn-In button to submit your work.
  9. To make changes to an assignment after you have turned it in, click on the unsubmit button. Make any changes needed, then click the turn-in button to resubmit your work.

What is Online Registration?

Online registration is a digital process in which parents/guardians can complete all required forms and provide the needed documentation to have their child/children enrolled in the West Tallahatchie School District completely online. This tool can be easily accessed from any computer, tablet or Smartphone.

Report Cards

Due to COVID-19, schools in the West Tallahatchie School District will not be distributing paper report cards for the 3rd 9 weeks. We apologize for the disruption in services; however, you may review and print your child's report card on Active Parent. If you have not registered for this service, you may contact Mrs. C. Digital Access Surveys for Families and School Employees: Due May 14

As school closures continue and as the state develops plans to direct resources to the areas of greatest need, the Mississippi Department of Education has prepared two brief surveys for districts to circulate: one to their families, the other to their teachers, administers and other staff who are/will be working from home. The surveys focus on devices at home, home internet access, and the quality/reliability of that connection. Please complete the corresponding digital survey below:
